Safety Program Highlights

Supporting Our Goal of ZERO Incidents, our safety program was created to establish Thorpe Specialty Services and its subsidiaries as the leader in our industry. The program consists of a clear, concise set of policies and procedures, and accompanying training and processes that enhance employee knowledge and participation.

Thorpe Safety Orientation (TSO) – indoctrinate employees into the Company’s safety culture by outlining key safety rules – administered at initial hire and annually thereafter.

Quarterly Supervisor Training – required participation in refresher training for all field Supervisors – quarterly updates on policies and procedures, and various other industry standards, client requirements and government regulations.

Regulatory Specific Training – ongoing employee training to meet or exceed regulatory requirements – topics such as powered industrial truck, scaffold user and competent person, HAZWOPER, MSHA, confined space entry and respiratory protection, among others.

Thorpe Task Safety Plan (TTSP) – identify, document and communicate hazards associated with daily tasks – completed before each shift by each work crew.

Hazard Recognition and Loss Prevention (HELP)/Observation Cards – individual hazard analysis and daily observation audit performed by members of the work crew – challenges employees to think about hazard elimination.

Safety Committee Meetings – managers, supervisors, field crew and safety department members gather in an open forum to discuss safety – conducted monthly to enhance communication between the field and management.

Safety Newsletters – monthly safety focus topics and a review of safety statistics, incidents and audits from the previous month – distributed to all employees each month.

Annual Safety Banquet – recognition for employees that have put in the hours and effort toward a safe and productive year – plaques, prizes and company apparel awarded to employees in appreciation for commitment to safety.
