Acid plant linings are inherently challenging not only due to the corrosive nature of the operations, but also the equipment size, geometry and complex connections. Optimizing performance requires an understanding of the corrosive effects on the materials, the thermal profiles through the lining and the stability of the construction.
Thorpe is one of the few refractory/acid masonry contractors with the in-house capability to design and install reliable acid plant linings. We have our own experienced engineering specialists and draftsmen to prepare detailed construction drawings for each project. Many of our design concepts and brick construction details are routinely replicated in the industry through various OEM and owner specifications. In addition to our engineering capabilities, we maintain a large resource of highly skilled bricklayers and field laborers experienced in acid plant and other severe service units.
THORPE has been involved in acid plant linings since our incorporation in Texas in 1954. We began with maintenance work and secured our first new acid plant project in 1960. Based upon our unique capabilities, we have expanded our work in acid plants across much of the USA and to some international locations.
